Metro Pacific raises stake in Makati MedMANILA, Philippines Infrastructure Holding company Metro Pacific Investments Corp. plans to infuse P208.4 dollars in fresh capital into the company that owns and operates 500 beds Makati Medical Center, as part of 'its expanding health care.
In a statement to the Philippine Stock Exchange Friday, MPI led by Manuel V. Pangilinan said that Makati Med operator Doctors Medical Inc.(MDI), has been offered to existing shareholders a total of 181,226 shares in the new P1, 150 per share.
MPI has agreed to purchase and acquire all the shares corresponding to its rights and stock rights also proposed to take all other actions that MDI shareholders would not subscribe. This participation has been approved by its Board of Directors at a meeting on Wednesday, the release said.

Dear Consumer Action:
I was badly injured by a hand-held exerciser, consisting of three stretchy bands with plastic handles on each end. It came with a celebrity exercise video.
I was doing curls and on the second one the plastic handle broke. The remaining portion smashed into my eye, causing serious injuries. After the accident, I went online and saw many others have reported similar problems with the product breaking, causing injuries. When I examined the handles, I saw they are not made in one piece, and the handles just come apart with any significant pressure. They are marked, "Made in China."
I would advise anyone with a similar device to throw it away. I had several stitches, and bleeding in the eye that may result in permanent vision impairment.

A CPSC spokesperson said the agency cannot comment if an investigation is ongoing, but encouraged you to report your experience. Make sure to hold onto the remains of the exerciser as evidence. The CPSC may want to see it. You also may want to visit a lawyer to discuss your legal options, should you be facing permanent vision loss.
Your experience reminds us that even a small piece of exercise equipment could carry big hazards, especially if it is manufactured in the Third World and not tested properly.
